'Wizards of Waverly Place' Sequel Series Gets a Go on Disney+

Wizards of Waverly Place is officially receiving a sequel series treatment.

Two months after receiving a pilot order for Wizards, Ayo Davis' Disney Branded Television banner has issued a formal series order for the second series.

The series will air this year on both Disney Channel and Disney+.

The Wizards production will begin next month in Los Angeles, with Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their roles as Alex and Justin Russo

Both will executive produce the series. Henrie will lead the series regulars, with Max Matenko (Platonic), who plays Justin's youngest kid, Milo.

He joins the already announced cast, which includes Janice LeAnn Brown (Bunk'd) as Billie, a young, strong magician

Alkaio Thiele (Marvel's Spidey and his Amazing Friends) as Justin's oldest kid, Roman; and Mimi Gianopulos (Rutherford Falls) as Giada, Justin's wife.

Gomez will make a guest appearance on the premiere.

The pilot was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (Raven's Home), who also executive produced alongside Disney's Gary Marsh (Descendants: The Rise of Red).

Wizards of Waverly Place launched Gomez's career, along with Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire, and That's So Raven.
