Travelodge seeks Taylor Swift boost as sales reach £1 billion.

Travelodge's CEO has stated that the company may benefit from Taylor Swift and AC/DC concerts this summer, following a record year in revenue.

However, the inexpensive hotel chain's sales growth slowed in early 2024, coinciding with a quieter season for both business and leisure travelers

Jo Boydell, the company's CEO, said it was "encouraged" by the 2% increase at the start of the year, noting that bookings are ahead of levels observed a year ago.

The CEO told the PA news agency that the hotel firm is confident that growth would improve further this year, with potential boosts from athletic and cultural events.

"We have solid bookings for Easter and beyond this year," Ms Boydell explained.

"There are many events we're looking forward to, such as the Lionesses at Wembley, and we're seeing strong sales around the Grand National and FA Cup semi-finals."

"In the summer we also have big concerts like Taylor Swift and AC/DC that people will be booking for."

Following rises in the cost of living, the CEO stated that the company is capitalizing on demand from leisure and corporate customers "for strong value".
