Animals Featured in Nordic Mythology  

A fearsome character from Norse mythology,   

Jormungandr is sometimes referred to as the Midgard Serpent or the World Serpent.   

In Norse mythology, Muninn (Memory) and Huginn (Thought), Odin's two ravens, stand for knowledge and wisdom.  

Odin, who is renowned for his power and speed, mounts the eight-legged horse Sleipnir.  

a malevolent dragon/serpent, is described in Norse mythology as eating away at the roots of Yggdrasil, the World Tree.  

Ratatoskr carries communications between Níðhöggr at the tree roots and the eagle stationed atop Yggdrasil by running up and down the mountain.   

His constant companions are the two wolves of Odin, Geri (also known as Greedy) and Freki (also known as Ravenous).   

Gullinbursti, the magical boar fashioned by the dwarfs, is the Norse mythical steed of the fertility goddess Freyr.
