Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour Raked in More Than $250 Million Last Year

Taylor Swift has another accomplishment to add to her résumé. Her 2015 1989 tour is the largest North American tour ever, grossing $199.4 million.

That's according to PollstarPro, a concert and music sales statistics database, which announced a golden year for the entire concert business,

with North American and Worldwide sales up double digits from 2014. Touring has grown more important than ever to the profitability of the music industry

since musicians increasingly rely on concerts and other live events for cash.

Taylor Swift does not need to worry about it. The pop queen earned $250 million in main ticket sales globally, making her the highest-grossing touring artist in 2015.

One Direction, a British boy band, debuted after Swift and sold slightly more than $210 million.

AC/DC ($180 million), U2 ($152.2 million), and the Foo Fighters ($127 million) complete the top five.

On the non-music front, PollStar estimates that comedian Kevin Hart earned $82.2 million in ticket sales, making his tour "perhaps the biggest ever by a stand-up comedian.
