Patrick Mahomes has a new backup at Chiefs for the 2024 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs have added a new quarterback to back up Patrick Mahomes in the 2024 NFL season.

In 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs will have a new backup to Patrick Mahomes.

According to NFL source Ian Rapoport, the team has reached an agreement to sign free agency quarterback Carson Wentz for a one-year contract.

While the contract's specifics have yet to be published, the Chiefs know they'll have a proven signal-caller behind the two-time MVP

Wentz, 31, was taken second overall by the Eagles in the 2016 NFL draft.

The North Dakota State product was performing at an MVP level in his second year when a knee injury ruined his season in Week 14.

Philadelphia went on to win the 2018 Super Bowl with backup quarterback Nick Foles

and even though Wentz reclaimed the job the next season, nothing was the same again.
