Outlander: Will there be a prequel series?

Viewers of Outlander have enjoyed the various historical eras the cast is transported to throughout the four seasons,

with plenty of time jumps. With a fifth on the horizon, there has been conjecture about a possible prequel that takes place before the Golden Globe-nominated series,

with a special emphasis on Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe).

Outlander author Diana Gabaldon has made her plans public. Her books are the basis for the television series.

The text on the page reads, "Diana Gabaldon has confirmed in interviews that she is writing an Outlander prequel book!

Diana suggests that the book will tell a story that took place primarily before the events in Outlander by using the term "prequel."

"Diana has said in interviews that the book would tell James Fraser's parents' tale.

"To find out when the prequel to Outlander will be released, wait for it to come out after the final big Jamie and Claire book. (And no, Diana is not aware of the exact time yet.)
