Lake, Pixar’s first nonbinary character,

Pixar Animation Studios has a reputation for being an innovator in the movie industry. 

Their newest film, "Elemental," which was released on June 16, features Pixar's first nonbinary character named Lake,

The movie is set in Element City, where the residents represent the four elements: earth, water, fire, and air. 

"Elemental" follows the story of Ember, a fiery young woman, and her friendship with Wade, a laid-back guy, challenging her beliefs. 

Hauser, on their Twitter account, expressed their excitement and honor in playing a nonbinary character in such a significant movie 

emphasizing the importance of LGBTQ representation in media. 

Previous Pixar projects, like "Onward" and the short film "Out," have included openly gay characters, but some international markets have banned them for addressing same-sex relationships 

Pixar has been advocating for more inclusion in their films, and in 2022, Pixar employees called out Disney executives for censoring storylines and character
