The 69-year-old star, co-writer, and director of the westerns set during the American Civil War

attended the distributor Warner Bros.' presentation of new titles at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas on April 9.

Chapter 1 will be released in theaters on June 28, with the sequel Chapter 2 following shortly thereafter on August 16.

"I think about the promise of America," Costner stated on stage.

In reference to Native Americans, he continued, "That promise meant that we stepped on a whole group of people who had been here for thousands of years."

Horizon contains that struggle as well, he stated. "If you could travel west and survive, you could establish a home, but it would come at a high cost.

Costner also revealed that his now-15-year-old son Hayes, whom he has with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, appears in Horizon
