Bill Geddie, the co-creator and executive producer if "The View,' died at the age of 68.

Geddie co-created "The View" with the late Barbara Walters. His "View family" remembers him as "a pioneer in television" who was "greatly loved" by his "View family."

Geddie's daughter, Allison Geddie, revealed the news to PEOPLE on Friday, saying, "My father was the best person I ever met.

"He was a happy person who always had a joke to tell. Everyone was interested in what he had to say and trusted what he said when he did. 

Every object he touched turned into gold. He was kind, supportive, and someone you could trust. 

Allison says that Geddie died on Thursday at his home in Rancho Mirage, California. He died of a "coronary" illness.

Geddie won four Emmys, but The View, which she made with Barbara Walters in 1997, is what made her most famous.

He stayed on the talk show until 2014. During his time there, he was nominated for 13 Daytime Emmys.  

At the 39th Daytime Emmy Awards in 2012, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
