Although the Country Music Association Awards aren’t the oldest, they are undoubtedly the biggest in the industry, showcasing some of the most noteworthy partnerships of the previous fifty or more years. From early trailblazers like Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn to modern superstars like Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson, the program has honored them all since 1967.When country music celebrities discuss their early aspirations, a common theme is that they dreamed of winning a CMA Award in the same way that actors dream of Oscars.

For instance, Trisha Yearwood remarked that seeing Reba McEntire win the same prize 13 years prior was what motivated her to keep pursuing her own success when she won Female Vocalist of the Year in 1997.
