A recent study brought to light allegations of internal strife and hostility within the administration of Vice President Joe Biden in relation to the border, with a particular focus on the hostility that existed between former Domestic Policy Adviser Susan Rice and other officials.
According to Axios, officials who are acquainted with the situation have said that there is a large amount of enmity between Rice and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Homeland Security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall, and Vice President Kamala Harris. As a result of the fact that he was the recipient of a number of complaints that were filled with profanity, Becerra was the object of particularly severe criticism.
Rice reportedly referred to Becerra as a “b****-a**” and referred to him in private as a “idiot,” as stated by a number of others who are knowledgeable with the situation.
There was a notion that Becerra was reluctant to find extra room in child migrant facilities, which led to a public relations disaster when photographs appeared of large numbers of migrant children being kept in detention centers. This perception was the reason for the harsh remarks that were spoken.
It is believed that Rice slid a note to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas with the phrase “Don’t save him.” This occurred during a meeting with President Joe Biden, during which he expressed his grievances about Becerra.
In addition, there were allegations of tension with Harris, with a number of individuals alleging that there was a profound sense of resentment as a consequence of the assumption that Rice was passed up for the vice presidential position, in part because of opposition research conducted by Harris’s team.
According to the article by Axios, the internal conflict is a part of a larger pattern of dysfunction that has been observed within the administration in relation to the border security. Several of the statements contained in the study were contested by the White House.

“President Biden is proud that his team has worked well together as they work to resolve unprecedented challenges,” said Andrew Bates, a spokesman for the White House. “This comes at a time when congressional Republicans continue to prioritize politics over securing our border.”
