Colorado’s two-way star, Travis Hunter, is facing a more extended period of absence from the field due to a troubling injury setback. Hunter, who has missed the last two games, was forced to seek medical attention after a brutal hit he sustained during the game against Colorado State in Week 3. While the initial prognosis suggested he would be sidelined for three weeks, it now appears that he may require an extended recovery period.

Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, provided an update on Hunter’s condition. He indicated that it might be necessary for Hunter to remain off the field for an additional two or three weeks before returning to action. Sanders expressed his hope that Hunter would sit out until after the upcoming bye week, giving him more time to recuperate.

The Buffaloes are scheduled to face Arizona State and Stanford in their next two games before the bye week in Week 8. During Hunter’s absence, Sanders shared that the standout player has been actively involved in coaching his teammates, highlighting his dedication to the team and the game itself.

However, there are signs of eagerness on Hunter’s part to return to the field. Reports suggest that he expressed a strong desire to play against USC, despite still being in the recovery phase. He was adamant about not accepting a “no” as an answer.

Deion Sanders, while acknowledging Hunter’s passion and determination, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the player’s well-being over a hurried return to the game. Sanders stressed that Hunter possesses immense potential in the world of sports and urged him to take the necessary time to heal and recover fully.

Travis Hunter, a highly-touted recruit and the top-ranked cornerback in the 2022 class, is renowned for his exceptional skills on both offense and defense. In the first three games of the season, he showcased his versatility with 16 receptions for 213 yards. He also made significant contributions on the defensive side of the ball, accumulating nine tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups.

Hunter, who was the No. 1 overall recruit in his class, originally committed to playing college football at Jackson State. However, he made headlines by signing a historic NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal with Prime Barstool, an organization founded by Deion Sanders. Hunter’s impressive performances on the field have only served to reinforce the high expectations that come with being a top prospect.
