With the release of her debut album, which will be titled after herself, South African singer-songwriter Tyla will be making her debut on Friday. The news follows closely on the heels of her triumph at the Grammy Awards, which took place exactly one month ago.
The musician, who is 22 years old, attained success in the previous year by getting to the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States and the top ten on the list in Britain with his amapiano song “Water.” The term “Water” refers to a musical style that was first developed in South Africa and incorporates elements of jazz, house music, and timber drumming.

The fifteen-track album that she has titled “TYLA” is what she refers to as “a melting pot of all the influences” that she had when she was growing up. A number of performers, including the American rapper Travis Scott and the Nigerian vocalist Tems, have collaborated with other musicians to create this album.”Pop, R&B, and then obviously amapiano and Afrobeats because that’s where I’m from, that’s the sounds of home,” Tyla said in an interview with the news agency Reuters.
“I’ve always just wanted to mix it all together, and I’ve gotten to a place where I’m happy with the way it sounds.”

Tyla was presented with the very first award ever given for the greatest African music performance at the Grammy accolades, which are widely regarded as the most prestigious accolades in the music industry.

“It’s literally so crazy … every day I have to remind myself that that actually happened and that it’s real,” she said in answer to the question. This is a manifestation of the increasing popularity of Afrobeats and other genres of music from the African continent, which is gaining a global audience with the support of social media platforms such as TikTok. This is evidenced by the Grammy award that was given out.

The app was largely responsible for the tremendous amount of success that Tyla’s song “Water” achieved after it was published in the month of July. Through the use of the hashtag #WaterChallenge, members of TikTok from all around the world submitted videos of themselves replicating her dance skills.”I’ve been vibing to amapiano, a lot of us have been in Africa for a very long time, and it’s really cool that other people are now catching on and enjoying it, because South Africa didn’t really have a genre that crossed over this hugely,” Tyla remarked in response to the question.

Lisa was present when Tyla uploaded a video of herself and BLACKPINK singer and rapper Lisa listening to “TYLA” a week ago. Lisa was also present when Tyla released the video. “We’ve been speaking about making a song together, so yes, for sure,” Tyla said in response to a question about whether or not she intended to incorporate the K-pop singer in a collaborative endeavor. “Our conversation has been about making a song together.”
